God knows

"Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose, calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it."  Isa Read more [...]

Not all who profess are

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Rom 12:2 I want to start this out by saying we do not have the authority to say if a person is saved or not.  We cannot see what is in the heart of another.  However, we have been told to judge the fruits of those who declare themselves to be a part of the Church.  Paul lays this out clearly in his letter to Titus Read more [...]

As through a key hole

"But, as it is written, 'No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, is what God has prepared for those who love him'"  1 Cor 2:9 My family and I went to see a movie this afternoon.  As we were waiting for it to begin, we were watching the previews of upcoming films.  Suddenly, in one of the previews, one of the characters said something that I find profound.  "You are looking at life as through a keyhole."  As I was pondering this, God spoke to me and said that many view Read more [...]

The Christians Purpose

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Mat 28:19-20 Why are we here?  I do not mean all mankind, but us Christians.  Think about it.  We have accepted the salvation God has provided for us through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  And because of our decision, we have a Read more [...]

Sometimes we are called to weep

"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."  Rom 12:15 Years ago, I became aware of a conversation between two Christians regarding the sufferings of many individuals caught in the horrors of human trafficking.  One of them was relating some of the things people suffered at the hands of evil traffickers.  After a short time, the other raised her hands and declared, "I do not want to hear anymore, it is taking away my joy."  She then walked off and became involved in another Read more [...]

Looking Beyond our Sight

"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, 'Lord, save me.'"  Mat 14:30 This verse comes from a very familiar passage where Jesus comes walking upon the sea to the boat where the disciples were.  After Peter recognizes who He is, he tells Jesus to command him to go on the water and walk to Him.  When Jesus did, he immediately got out of the boat and walked out to Jesus.  However, when he looked around and saw the wind and the rough waters, he began to sink Read more [...]

Now that She is Gone

On September 23, 2014, my oldest sister Pamela Drake went to be with the Lord.  She was alone in her apartment when she died. I received the word from her daughter, my niece Jennifer Phillips late that evening.  Needless to say, I was very shocked.  I had not spoken to her since a couple of months ago, and had not seen her since our family visited her back in 1999.  That, unfortunately I do regret.  However, this post is not about what should have been. This post is about what it truly was, Read more [...]

A Tale of Freedom

"and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  John 8:32 Jacob woke up from a hard sleep, wondering somewhat where he was.  He looked around to get his bearings, and then began to rub his eyes.  He looked down at his side table, and noticed a book that had not been there when he dozed off the night before.  He sat up, very curious.  Living in a small eight by twelve foot space in the middle of a large open building, his world, where no-one is allowed to leave their life Read more [...]

What is your price?

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it."  Mat 13:45-46 One day, about a month ago, I was listening to a YouTube video called "The Keith Green Story - Full."  It told the story of the conversion of one of Contemporary Christian Music's most beloved ministers.  I will not call him an artist, for I am sure he did not consider himself anything but a minister of the gospel of Read more [...]
