Not all who profess are

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Rom 12:2 I want to start this out by saying we do not have the authority to say if a person is saved or not.  We cannot see what is in the heart of another.  However, we have been told to judge the fruits of those who declare themselves to be a part of the Church.  Paul lays this out clearly in his letter to Titus Read more [...]

Is it belief

"Jesus said to him, 'Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'"  John 20:29 If you ask any Christian if they believe there is a Heaven, he will most likely say "Yes".  And if you were to ask any Christian if God loves them, you would probably get the same answer.  We have been taught all our lives that Heaven is a real place and that God loves us.  We say with little hesitation that we believe the words of the bible are true, and Read more [...]

On Compassion

"A Society that lacks Compassion, lacks a future" This is a little different post than I normally write.  It is based on the case of little 10-year-old Sarah Murnaghan, who is dying from cystic fibrosis and needs a lung transplant in order to survive.  Without the transplant, she has a mere few weeks to live.  The doctors and surgeons say that she has a good chance of recovering and living a normal life if they can get the lung.  However, federal policy states anyone under the age of twelve Read more [...]

What is your price?

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it."  Mat 13:45-46 One day, about a month ago, I was listening to a YouTube video called "The Keith Green Story - Full."  It told the story of the conversion of one of Contemporary Christian Music's most beloved ministers.  I will not call him an artist, for I am sure he did not consider himself anything but a minister of the gospel of Read more [...]

Time is not forever

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."  Gen 1:1 As I said in the last post, I want to discuss the nature of time.  The meaning and nature of time cannot be ascertained directly from any empirical evidence, therefore we must look at it's attributes and through examining what we know of time, and what the scriptures tell us, we can determine quite a bit about what time actually is.  Time is part of the creation of all things.   Let's look at the very first verse in the very Read more [...]

Be Thankful for Everything

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.  Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.   And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Phi 4:4-7 On November 22, we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.  This is one day in the year which we in America Read more [...]

Trials and Trust

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” Php 4:11-12 ESV Over the last couple of years, the world has been going through severe economic and geopolitical upheaval. Extremely high unemployment, downturn in the housing market, inflation, devaluing of retirement savings, Read more [...]
